The Youth Education Program provides year-round programming working directly with refugee youth, their parents and families, and their schools.

Job Overview:

The Youth Program Operations Coordinator is responsible for supporting the smooth operation of all IRC in New York Youth Programs, including the Newcomer Youth Summer Academy, Youth Tutoring, Leaders in Training and School Success Coaching. This includes leading procurement of supplies, management of Google Suite accounts, coordinating student transportation, meals, field trips, recreational activities, special events, and liaising with partners. They work closely with colleagues to ensure that the Youth Program goals and objectives are accomplished using a holistic, collaborative approach in partnership with school staff, partner organizations, parents, and newcomer youth.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and facilitate staff training for youth programs
  • Organize Metro Card procurement, distribution, and tracking
  • Provide technological support to instructional staff and students, including managing, maintaining and securing devices
  • Conduct inventory of supplies, organize & lead procurement of materials
  • Prepare purchase vouchers and process receipts
  • Assist with student school enrollments for recently arrived families
  • Administer interviews and finalize hiring for Peer Mentors
  • Facilitate and supervise program relocation
  • Strategize and execute community events, field trips, graduation and donor visits.
  • Liaise with host school staff and vendors regarding all student meals & contracts for student breakfast/lunch
  • Manage a small team of staff, including Youth Program Specialists and Peer Mentors, providing support, guidance, and regular feedback.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to plan, prepare, and facilitate Youth Tutor training. Oversee onboarding logistics for volunteer Youth Tutoring team, including setup of Google Suite accounts
  • Facilitate student arrival and dismissal, following policies and procedures
  • Update and create youth education department promotional materials, including securing accurate translations
  • Plan college tours and career days for the Leaders in the Training program

Job Requirements:

Education: Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in in business, logistics, education, or related field

Work Experience: A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience coordinating program operations and logistics, preferably in a youth education setting

Demonstrated Skills & Competencies

  • Experience working with refugee and/or immigrant populations is strongly preferred ​
  • Experience working with the New York City Public School system highly desirable

  • Conduct new student intakes, as needed

General Responsibilities:

Position

This Specialist will help ensure that the education team has the capacity to translate its existing content using authoring tools. We hope that the resulting content will be organized in a manner that is agnostic, reusable, accessible and manageable across different platforms or Apps. We expect the specialist to work within and seek to improve a defined set of content standards and technological approaches that will be developed prior to the start of this work. Key Areas of Responsibility
• Developing illustrations or animation videos for multiple platforms and based on design requirements
• Manage the entire illustration or video production process including script writing and voice recordings

• Updating existing videos or illustrations

Key deliverables

Chemonics International is seeking a security advisor for their Lagos Urban Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene Activity (LUWASH)

Background

The USAID Lagos Urban Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene Activity (LUWASH) is a $44 million water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) activity. LUWASH will increase the availability, quality and use of safe water and sanitation services and improve the governance and sustainable management of associated sector institutions in Lagos, Nigeria. Through an integrated, market-based approach, LUWASH will work across the value chain of WASH services to bolster supply and manage demand within a strengthened framework of sector governance, financing, and regulated services. The activity aims to catalyze sector transformation and generate WASH service improvements for at least 4 million people in low-income communities and build a foundation for continued progress beyond LUWASH.

The Security Advisor position is to assist in the development of security protocols for project operations in Nigeria; keeping the LUWASH project team and overall country security platform informed with up-to-date local information that affects security procedures and day-to-day operations. Additionally, s/he will be responsible for supporting operations in the field and assisting LUWASH project staff. S/he must also be able work with and coordinate with various stakeholders in country and the Chemonics Corporate office, while demonstrating sound judgment and a high level of discretion.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage the security of LUWASH Operations, including risk assessments, stakeholder engagement, physical security, journey management, staff training, security reporting, emergency preparedness and incident response.
  • Monitor the local environment in the areas of operations assigned to the position and recommend to the Chief of Party (COP) changes in security posture when necessary.
  • Maintain strategic relationships with key government ministries and the Nigerian security sector, including developing relationships with local security professionals, NGO/IP security managers, and security forces for the purpose of enhancing information gathering capabilities and support networks.
  • Maintain a strong relationship with Chemonics Nigeria Country Security Team engaging in regular communications and providing updates pertinent to the overall security situation in Nigeria.
  • Provide timely reports to the Chief of Party on developing security situations, incidents, or any special security concerns and issues.
  • In accordance with established protocol, disseminate special security guidance and advisories to staff within the position portfolio.
  • Contribute expert Lagos Specific local knowledge to routine reports and briefings developed by the Chemonics Nigeria Country Security Team.
  • Support travel management plans, including carrying out trip planning for special travel requirements and reviewing and approving staff travel as directed.
  • Assist in the management of physical security measures, including at the main office in Lagos, at international staff residences, and at locations where staff are based.
  • In coordination with the Chemonics Nigeria Country Security Team, manage project emergency preparedness and emergency response planning.
  • Carry out staff training as directed, including security orientations, travel briefings, safety drills, and other special training as determined necessary.
  • Participate in meetings with the home office Security Management Unit (SMU), providing updates on programmatic activities and areas of significant risk.
  • Perform departmental safety and security audits within stipulated timeframes and implementing recommending corrector actions according to the findings.
  • Remain on-call 24-hours a day and 7 days a week to respond to security incidents.
  • Assist in the management of any security incidents, including coordinating security response actions and ensuring timely reporting.

Job qualifications:

  • Nigerian citizen/resident required.
  • Five or more years’ experience in management and oversight of security platforms that were implemented in Nigeria and utilized low-profile techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to generate and leverage network connections in Nigeria to promote an accurate and timely understanding of the security context in Nigeria.
  • Prior professional experience working in law enforcement or military coupled with private sector work experience preferred.
  • Proven expertise in managing response to Nigerian security issues, including current threat environment, security policy, key actors, risk assessment, and best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce security deliverables and documentation: security risk assessments, site assessments, standard operating procedures, and briefing documents.
  • Experience providing security oversight to an international donor program desirable.
  • Ability to report to and coordinate with multiple stakeholders, both internal and external.
  • Experience in training civilians on safety and security measures.
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Advanced IT capabilities with experience in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Fluency in English is required.

Duration of Assignment:

  • 2 years, with option to renew following successful conclusion of initial 2-year period.

Reporting:

  • The Security Advisor will report directly to the Chief of Party. The Security Advisor will also conduct check-ins with Chemonics Home Office Security Management Unit (SMU) as necessary. The Chemonics SMU will provide overall strategic support to the Chemonics Nigeria security platform and will serve as the key focal point for decisions that impact the entire security platform and in cases of emergency.

The coordination is based in Caracas and we are searching for a finance coordinator in charge of the finance for the all mission to join the team.

As Finance coordinator, you are in charge of defining, coordinating and monitoring the implementation and management of financial strategies, policies, internal control and all financial administrative and legal issues in the mission, in line with the context and operational challenges and MSF protocols, standards and procedures. Providing accurate, transparent, timely and reliable financial information to the organization and third parties on the allocation of resources in the projects.

As Finance Coordinator you collaborate closely with the finance team in different operational Cells (OCB headquarters or regional Cells) and with the project teams in the country where they are based.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Together with Country Management Team, participating in the definition of the mission’s objectives and strategies, planning, implementing, and monitoring the financial operational and budget needs, anticipating changes and challenges and planning accordingly, in order to ensure budgets are relevant and appropriate.
  • Defining and analyzing the project budget to ensure that funds are used according to the funding contracts, proposing corrective actions if needed
  • Implementing and supervising financial transaction procedures and systems, to ensure transparent and traceable accounting practices
  • Implementing circuits and workflows, such as management of cash boxes, transfers, advances, purchasing procedures, payment approvals, follow-up of payments and bank reconciliations
  • Ensuring the timely execution and control of monthly/yearly accountancy closure, financial reports, audits and all service contracts for the project site
  • Creating awareness about anti-corruption policies, making sure the processes are followed in the coordination and in the project(s).

These challenges will not be faced alone; other MSF team members (both international and locally hired staff) will provide technical support, including comprehensive guidelines and protocols.

REQUIREMENTS

Education & Experience

  • Degree in finance, business, accounting, economics or equivalent through experience
  • Minimum three years of experience in managing country finances in MSF or other non-governmental international organizations
  • Experience in supervision of financial administration (e.g. bookkeeping, tax administration) and in performing monitoring and control of standard accounting procedures
  • Experience in supervising/managing, training and coaching
  • Experience working in developing countries

PROPOSITO DEL ROL:

El / la Oficial de SmAPS (Salud Mental y apoyo psicosocial) se encargará de prestar apoyo al equipo de protección de Tumaco, especialmente a los trabajadores de gestión de casos dando asistencia psicológica a los beneficiarios con necesidades específicas de atención; valorando y diseñando en conjunto con el equipo estrategias de intervención para las familias y cada uno de sus miembros, en salud mental y violencia basada en género según el caso. Así mismo apoyará el diseño y desarrollo de estrategias y/o acciones de atención psicosocial en el marco de las diferentes actividades o componentes de gestión de casos y del equipo de Protección del proyecto BHA.

AREAS CLAVES DE RESPONSABILIDAD:

  • Apoyar el diseño e implementación de las estrategias de prevención y repuesta de Salud Mental y Apoyo Psicosocial para niñez y adolescencia y sus cuidadores

  • Apoyar en actividades de capacitación con los comités comunitarios y clubes juveniles de las comunidades donde opera el proyecto, así también apoyar a gestores de casos, tutores, movilizadores o asistentes, en la identificación y manejo de padres o NNAs con afectaciones en salud mental.

  • Apoyar en los Punto de escucha y espacios itinerantes a los gestores de casos, tutores y asistentes en la identificación y manejo de NNAs muy vulnerables (riesgos de protección que manifiestan signos de estrés, angustia, tristeza, problemas de conducta, etc)

  • Apoyar y trabajar de la mano con el equipo de gestión de casos en el manejo de procesos individuales que requieran de apoyo psicosocial más especializados, revisión de rutas o remisiones a otros servicios.

  • Apoyar al equipo de Apoyo Psicosocial y gestión de casos en la implementación de herramientas de valoración e intervención psicosocial.

  • Apoyar acciones de intervención en situaciones de emergencia humanitaria como desplazamientos masivos rurales o urbanos en los diferentes contextos de Nariño.

  • Articular de manera clara y efectiva las remisiones de NNA y familias con necesidades de salud mental y apoyo psicosocial a las diferentes rutas institucionales como la de salud mental en los municipios donde se implementa el proyecto.

  • Identificar y actualizar en compañía de los miembros del equipo el mapeo de actores locales para generar estrategias de articulación efectiva en casos de Salud mental, apoyo psicosocial y VBG.

  • En coordinación con los coordinadores de APS y de educación y protección desarrollar y facilitar sesiones grupales para padres y madres en temas como Salud Mental y Apoyo Psicosocial, Violencia Basada en Género, identificación de riesgos psicosociales y promoción de derechos.

  • Preparar informes narrativos periódicos, bajo la supervisión directa del coordinador de APS y coordinador (a) de SMAPS nacional.

  • Realizar los reportes de caso en los formatos establecidos para generar una línea de identificación, plan de caso y asistencia hasta el cierre o remisión respectiva de acuerdo con la inducción generada y con supervisión del coordinador SMAPS nacional.

  • Apoyar a los equipos en desarrollar acciones en SMAPS que cumplan el principio de acción sin daño

  • Coordinarse con el equipo de APS para identificar necesidades en Salud Mental y Apoyo Psicosocial en la población víctima de conflicto armado (NNAS y sus familias)

  • Actualizar mapeo de servicios local sobre oferta en salud mental de los municipios donde se realiza incidencia y rutas de remisión.

  • Identificar y reportar necesidades de fortalecimiento familiar o comunitario reconocidos en sus ejercicios de intervención.

REQUISITOS

  • Profesional en psicología, deseable con especialización en intervención clínica y social o en áreas relacionadas.

EXPERIENCIA Y HABILIDADES:

  • Experiencia mínima de 3 años trabajando con Infancia y Adolescencia, preferiblemente en un contexto humanitario y deseable con experiencia en atención clínica en salud mental y/o trabajo comunitario.
  • Deseable experiencia de trabajo en contextos de conflicto armado, como desplazamientos y otros hechos victimizantes.
  • Demostrada habilidad para trabajar en un ambiente diverso y con población vulnerable
  • Concienciación y conocimiento de las cuestiones de género y su pertinencia en situaciones de emergencia humanitaria.
  • Deseable experiencia de trabajo con población con enfoque étnico afrodescendiente e indígena.
  • Concienciación y conocimiento en estrategias de intervención clínica individual y familiar.
  • Conocimientos sobre cuestiones de protección en entornos humanitarios.
  • Conocimiento en estrategias de intervención con niños, niñas y adolescentes.
  • Capacidad para construir y motivar / liderar equipos transversales para producir resultados orientados al cliente.
  • Experiencia deseable en contextos de emergencia o asistencia humanitaria.
  • Sensibilidad y respeto por una serie de creencias culturales

The successful candidate will:

  • Lead/Co-lead the Social & Economic Inclusion Impact Area ensuring that the portfolio aligns with WorldFish’s strategic goals, is innovative and generates new knowledge on the implementation of inclusive aquatic food systems for shared prosperity and well-being, ensuring high visibility and credibility in relevant scientific, development and policy networks and platforms.
  • Build, facilitate and inspire multi-disciplinary collaborative teams of researchers, and overseeing research quality and portfolio development; achieving deliverables and outcomes.
  • Lead/co-lead high quality and high-profile scientific outputs, through own research and collaboration within WorldFish and with external scientific consortia. Ensure regular, high quality scientific, development and policy-relevant communications.
  • Lead/co-lead the development of a business plan for growth of the social and economic inclusion impact area and manage collaboration on resource mobilization, developing and managing donor relationships, including with private investors and foundations, to ensure the impact area has the financial resources necessary to deliver on its goals.
  • Work closely with project leaders and researchers to ensure that the impact area responds to the context and contemporary challenges in the regions and countries where WorldFish works.
  • Build scientific consortia to strengthen WorldFish’s leadership in relevant scientific domains and partnerships needed for development impact. Lead and facilitate development of large-scale, multi-partner programmatic initiatives aligned to WorldFish’s Strategy and integrating research, actionable policy outcomes, knowledge services and support for implementation of aquatic foods social and economic inclusion initiatives leading to impact at scale.
  • Advocate and advance the Impact Area’s agenda in international fora to achieve impact on policy and practice. Act as WorldFish’s main focal point for the social and economic inclusion impact area, both internally and externally, representing WorldFish globally and regionally, and serving as a spokesperson on related issues.

Requirements

The successful candidate will have:

  • PhD and expertise and a track record of leading research, policy engagement, and resource mobilization in Political economy/ecology (e.g., in relation to natural resource governance, value chains, decent work) and/or Gender, Entrepreneurship, Inclusive Finance, Social Protection;
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience including leading research, managing and building teams, policy engagement, mobilizing funding, and communicating research to the public.

Benefits

This is an Internationally Recruited Staff (IRS) position with annual salary ranging between USD 81,600 - USD 96,000 per annum (for Senior Scientist level) and USD 47,900 – USD 69,700 per annum (for Scientist level).

WorldFish's IRS shall receive comprehensive health insurance, life insurance, accident, and long-term disability insurance. Internationally recruited staff employed outside of their home base/country of nationality will also be eligible to receive relocation assistance, a housing allowance, home-leave plane tickets for self and eligible dependents and education assistance for school-age dependents between age 4 and high school graduation. The successful candidate will:

  • Lead/co-lead the Nutrition and Public Health impact area ensuring that the portfolio aligns with WorldFish’s strategic goals, is innovative and generates new knowledge on aquatic food systems and nutrition science, ensuring high visibility and credibility in relevant scientific, development and policy networks and platforms.
  • Build, facilitate and inspire multi-disciplinary collaborative teams of researchers, and overseeing research quality and portfolio development; achieving deliverables and outcomes.
  • Lead/co-lead high quality and high-profile scientific outputs, through own research and collaboration within WorldFish and with external scientific consortia. Ensure regular, high quality scientific, development and policy-relevant communications, based on effective knowledge management.
  • Lead/co-lead development of a business plan for growth of the nutrition and public health impact area and manage collaboration on resource mobilization, developing and managing donor relationships, including with private investors and foundations, to ensure the impact area has the financial resources necessary to deliver on its goals.
  • Work closely with project leaders and researchers to ensure that the impact area responds to the context and contemporary challenges in the regions and countries where WorldFish works.
  • Build scientific consortia to strengthen WorldFish’s leadership in relevant scientific domains and partnerships needed for development impact. Lead and facilitate development of large-scale, multi-partner programmatic initiatives aligned to WorldFish’s Strategy and integrating research, actionable policy outcomes, knowledge services and support for implementation of aquatic foods nutrition and public health initiatives leading to impact at scale.
  • Advocate and advance the Impact Area’s agenda in international fora to achieve impact on policy and practice. Act as WorldFish’s main focal point for the nutrition and public health impact area, both internally and externally, representing WorldFish globally and regionally, and serving as a spokesperson on related issues.
  • Foster a respectful work environment that promotes knowledge sharing, interdisciplinary teamwork, and mutual learning, evaluation, and innovation. Lead professional development for researchers, ensuring equality and supporting strengthening of quality, deepening of knowledge and experience and career advancement.

Requirements

The successful candidate will have:

  • A PhD relevant to Food Systems (e.g., reducing loss & waste, nutritional ecology, feeding programs) or Nutrition Science (Health Economics, Food Safety, Public Health).
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience including leading research, managing and building teams, policy engagement, mobilizing funding, and communicating research to the public.
  • A track record of high level and influential scientific publications.
