INTERN - 3D PRINTING

The United Nations Global Service Centre (UNGSC) provides critical Supply Chain, Geospatial, Information and Telecommunications Technologies services and Training to all Special Political missions, Agencies, Funds and Programmes of the UN system worldwide.

This Internship is located in the Technology Infrastructure Support Unit (TISU) of the Infrastructure and Operations Section (IOS) within the Service for Geospatial, Information and Telecommunications Technologies (SGITT) at the UNGSC in Brindisi, Italy and at UNICTF Valencia, Spain.

The Intern reports to and works under the supervision of the Chief, TISU.

Three (3) positions are available, two (2) in Brindisi, Italy and one (1) in Valencia, Spain.
The TISU/3D Printing internship is for six (6) months for each position.

The Intern is required to work from the premises.

Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the Chief TISU or other designated officer, the Intern will be performing the following duties:
- Provides technical assistance in new designs for 3D printing
- Supports Staff Team working with CAD/CAM software
- Supports Staff Team working on design of new 3D Printing as a Service website
- Contributes in planning 3D technology projects
- Assists Staff Team in managing and optimizing processes of innovative 3D technologies
- Contributes in evaluating real-life scenarios and recommending the appropriate use of Industry 4.0 technologies
- Contributes in managing plastic waste recycling system

Education

Please note that to qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
- Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or,
- Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent).

The Intern is expected to:
- Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and
- Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
- Be computer literate in standard software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint or similar.
- Be proficient in standard office automation (equipment, scanner, printer, etc.).
