Position: Finance and Operations Officer
Location: Blantyre, Malawi
Contract duration: 1 month, extendable.
Capacity: Full time

1. Background
IsraAID is a non-profit, non-governmental and apolitical humanitarian aid agency founded in 2001, dedicated to supporting populations in crisis around the world. 2. Context Overview
Tropical Cyclone Freddy first made landfall in Malawi in late February and returned to sweep the country for a second time this week, causing additional torrential rains, flooding, and mudslides. The government has announced a state of disaster in the country’s worst-hit southern region. Malawi is struggling against a deadly outbreak of cholera that has been ongoing since March 2022. The situation has now become a double emergency. With more than 36,000 cases and 1,200 deaths to date, flooding raises the risk of cholera significantly by contaminating the water sources on which many vulnerable populations
rely. The risks are further compounded among those living in crowded temporary shelters without adequate hygiene and sanitation facilities.
The Finance & Operations Officer directly oversees all financial, accounting, logistic and administrative operations in the emergency mission. The position liaisons between Headquarters (HQ) and the country mission, as well as external stakeholders. The incumbent will also represent the
mission in various coordination forums.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial and Accounting
● In charge of expenses forecasting and control
● Regular and ad hoc financial reporting and analyses to the country mission, HQ and donors
● Ensure internal and external compliance
● Work closely with Head of Mission, operations and logistics staff on financial program management
● In charge of bookkeeping, cash management, payroll, payments and bank management
● In charge of successful internal and external auditing
Administration
● Manage office administration and be the focal point for all operational needs
● Provide guidance to personnel on policies and procedures
● Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the mission, including ordering supplies
● Leading team-related logistics arrangement, including but not limited to local transportation, accommodation, communications and more
ESSENTIAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND COMPETENCIES
● Required - Intermediate or higher working level of Excel
● Preferred - University degree in Finance Management or another related field
● Preferred -1-2 years Experience in financial management and accounting, ideally in the non-profit sector
● Preferred - Experience working internationally
● Excellent people skills, with experience collaborating in a multi-disciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team
● Able to work independently and with a team
● Highly flexible and a self-starter
● Self-learner; able to multitask while also being highly detail-oriented
● Resourcefulness in setting priorities, proposing new efficiencies, and guiding investment in people and systems
